The QR Generator works inside your browser, so it needs JavaScript. Please enable JavaScript and reload this page, or use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.

How to make a QR code

This QR code generator turns your link or text into a QR code in four steps.

  1. Type or paste

Type or paste a link, a phone number or any text into the box.

  2. Press Generate QR

Press Generate QR (or Ctrl + Enter, ⌘ + Enter on a Mac) to draw the QR code.

  3. Download the PNG

Press Download PNG to save a sharp 1024 × 1024 pixel image.

  4. Share or print

Add the image to a poster, a slide, a message or a product label.

Your text stays on your device

Links and notes can be private, so this QR code maker never sends them anywhere. Your browser encodes the text and draws the QR code on your own computer or phone, and the PNG is made there too. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is saved (not even in your browser's storage) and nothing is logged. Refreshing or closing the page clears everything.

Frequently asked questions

Is the QR Generator free?

Yes. The QR Generator is free to use, with no sign-up and no account.

Is my text uploaded or saved?

No. The QR code is created only in your browser, on your own device. Your text is never uploaded to our server, never saved and never logged, and refreshing the page clears it.

What can I turn into a QR code?

Any link (URL) or text: a website address, a phone number, an email address, a Wi-Fi note or a short message. A phone camera opens a link straight away and shows other text so it can be copied.

How much text fits in one QR code?

Up to 2,000 characters. Letters with accents, other scripts and emoji take more space, so a very long text in those may need to be shortened. Short text gives a simpler code that scans faster.

Does the QR code expire?

No. The QR code holds your text itself, not a link to our website, so it keeps working forever and does not depend on this page.

What size is the downloaded image?

A PNG of 1024 × 1024 pixels with a white quiet zone around the code, sharp enough for print and screens.
